As previously communicated on June 8, 2026, UC Merced will be transitioning to a new effort reporting platform (ECC) and is retiring the legacy Effort Reporting System (ERS). More information on this initiative can be found in the UCM ECC Self-Service Center.
What all Staff/Principal Investigators need to know:
-
Beginning on 3/1/2027, Salary Cost Transfer (SCT) requests impacting payroll earnings end dates of 5/31/2026 or prior will NOT be approved for processing due to the ERS system retirement.
-
The legacy Effort Reporting System (ERS) will be sunset on 5/27/2027. After this date, Principal Investigators will no longer be able to make their Federally mandated certifications or view effort reports in ERS. Please refer to the quick start guide for certifiers or the UCM Effort Reporting System (ERS) webpage to complete the certification process in ERS.
-
The new Employee Compensation Compliance (ECC) system will go live on 9/10/2026 and the first effort reporting period in ECC will be Summer 2026. Self-led training material will be shared in a separate e-mail message.
-
The Project Portfolio Financial Management (PPFM) team will host a virtual, drop-in office hour session on 9/10/2026, 9:00AM – 12:00PM; click here to join.
Please direct any questions about the ERS retirement initiative to the Project Portfolio Management team via e-mail, at PPFM@ucmerced.edu. Thank you for your attention and participation.
